David holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Financial Management) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales.
David was a partner of the legal firm Herbert Smith Freehills for more than 25 years. He retired from the firm in December 2015.
During his time in practice, he was widely regarded as one of Australia’s best superannuation lawyers, having been voted Superannuation Lawyer of the Year (Sydney) in the 2012 'Best Lawyers' survey and was considered as an expert by Who’s Who Legal in the area of ‘Pensions and Benefits’ in their annual market research published in 'Who’s Who Legal: Labour, Employment & Benefits' in each of July 2016 and July 2017.
David has practised in the area of financial services law for over 25 years, with a particular emphasis on superannuation and life insurance law.

Gerard holds a Bachelor of Business, Diploma of Superannuation Management, Diploma of Financial Planning and is a Certified Practicing Accountant and a Trustee Fellow of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA).
Gerard was a senior executive of Commonwealth Bank Group Super, the $10 billion staff fund for employees of the Commonwealth Bank, for more than 18 years, including the last 7 years as Chief Investment Officer. He retired from Group Super in April 2017.
During his time in the superannuation industry, he has held on number of voluntary positions on industry bodies and is currently a member of ASFA’s NSW Executive Committee and ASFA’s Economics and Investment Policy Council.
In 2013, Gerard was awarded a National Achievement Award as Chief Investment Officer of the Year.
