Agricultural challenges inspire scholarship winner
An interest in food security, land regeneration and sustainability has inspired the 2021 Agribusiness Australia scholarship winner Eloise Knox, to study agriculture next year at university.
A city kid, Eloise had her introduction to agriculture at a young age with regular visits to the regions to play football and hockey. When in year 11 at Barker College in Sydney, Eloise became more interested in agriculture as a career.
‘I got involved in the fantastic agricultural program that really opened my eyes to the possibilities,’ said Eloise.
The Agribusiness Australia scholarship was established in 2013 to encourage young Australians to choose a career in agribusiness.
As the winner of the 2021 scholarship, Eloise will receive $1,000 each year for three years towards her tertiary studies in agriculture.
Prime Super is the current sponsor of the scholarship and has strong connections with rural and regional Australia.
‘The scholarship provides us with another way to support and connect with regional Australia,’ said National Sales Manager, Chris Pole.
Eloise hopes that she can live in the regions after finishing her degree and start to tackle some of the challenging issues facing the world of agriculture.
She is also open to the possibility of taking her skills to the global market, to experience and understand different perspectives.
Agribusiness Australia and Prime Super recently held a virtual meeting with Eloise to congratulate her on her win. Watch here
