Prime Super was delighted to be acknowledged in the prestigious Selecting Super Awards recently where it was a finalist in four investment categories and was the winner of the Best Investment performance – Property category. Prime Super CEO and investment team were on hand to collect the award and acknowledged its pride in serving Prime Super members over the short and long term.
CEO Lachlan Baird said ‘ Our strongest focus is to develop investment options so that members can choose the one that best suits their objectives for their retirement. There is a lot of discussion of MySuper options in the media and elsewhere as the largest number of Australians are invested in them. Prime Super has a significant amount of its members in the MySuper option so we were delighted to be a finalist in the Best Investment option – MySuper Risk adjusted. But it’s also important to point out to members that we have a wide-range of investment options. Members can access them if that suits their investment strategies better. For some members it’s a mix of other options and others choose to invest 100% of their contributions in options other than MySuper . In total we have 11 options from January 1 with the introduction of the Socially Responsible option.
Prime Super also acknowledged the key role that it’s investment advisers – Whitehelm Capital – plays in developing investment strategies for its members.
Lachlan Baird said ‘Whitehelm have provide strategic and timely advice to Prime Super over a number of years and also feel that they have the members’ best interest when they are assessing options for us to consider. Whitehelm Advisers has been providing asset consulting and advisory services to institutional clients since 1996. They build investment strategies for clients on a customised basis, driven by client investment beliefs and incorporating preferences on key considerations such as absolute risk, absolute performance, relative performance and liquidity risk.
The acknowledgement by Selecting Super was further recognition of the strong long and short term investment performance by Prime Super where it reported to members this year that the MySuper option delivered top quartile performance over three, five and seven years to 30 June 2018. Also, in a stand out result, its Managed Growth, Conservative and property options delivered top quartile performance over, three, five and seven years*.
Lachlan Baird said ‘Everyone who is associated with Prime Super strives to deliver the best outcomes for its members and recognition like this motivates us to work even harder. It’s a privilege to manage retirement savings for our members and we look forward to continuing to focus on success for our members.
