Types of insurance cover
Prime Super offers members a number of insurance cover options.
Death only cover
Is insurance cover paid to your beneficiaries on your death. This cover is available to you if you do not want, or do not qualify for TPD cover.
Provides cover should you die, or you suffer from an illness or you are injured to the point where you are no longer able to work again in any occupation.
Pays you a percentage of your regular income for up to two years if you can’t work due to illness or injury for longer than your chosen waiting period. You can choose a waiting period of 30, 60 or 90 days.
In addition to these types of cover, we also give you the choice of unitised or fixed cover options.
Each unit of cover has a specific dollar value depending on your age. This means that your premium remains the same but your benefit amount changes as you get older.
Fixed cover provides you with an agreed benefit - you choose how much cover you’d like in dollars. With this option, your benefit amount remains the same, but your premiums vary year-to-year as you get older.
If you work in a white collar or professional job, you can apply to vary the default standard occupational rating. If you qualify for a different occupational rating you will receive a higher level of cover for the same price as a member with the standard occupational rating.
We offer Death and TPD insurance cover at Standard, White Collar and Professional rates.
Income protection is offered at Standard, White Collar, Professional and Special Risk rates. The special risk rating is for members in occupations which carry a significant risk and may not otherwise be eligible for this type of cover. Special risk rated insurance may carry higher premiums.
