We strongly recommend that you seek professional financial advice to ensure that your super adequately provides for your retirement.
Legally we are only allowed to give members general advice about the Fund and its features. We are not authorised to give you any advice that would require us to take into account your personal needs, objectives or circumstances.
To help members plan for a strong financial future and make the most out of their super, we’ve partnered with Industry Fund Financial Planning (ABN 54 007 016 195 ASFL 232514). Through this partnership, our members and employers have access to specialist financial planning advice at discounted rates.
Industry Fund Financial Planning is not like most financial planning businesses. For starters it was established in 1999 by a group of industry super funds to provide services to members of industry and not–for-profit super funds. This means they have the same philosophy that we do - high quality, low cost, commitment to education and communication and most importantly, all benefits to members.
The other big point of difference is that they operate on a pure fee for service basis and do not accept commissions. This means you pay for advice based only on your interests and recommendations based on your needs rather than the commissions received by many retail planners from product issuers for recommending their products.
Industry Fund Financial Planning is one of fastest growing financial planning networks in Australia. They have financial planning service agreements with more than 25 industry and public sector funds and are an ACTU endorsed planning group.
All Prime Super members will get their initial data collection consultation for free. Please note that no personal advice is able to be given at this time. You also have the option to charge the costs of any planning advice that relates to your super to your Prime Super member account. This means that you don’t have to pay the fees for the advice out of your day to day bank account – instead it comes out of your super account.
Industry Fund Financial Planning will also run member seminars and provide members with financial education material through our website.
Please note that all financial planning information and advice obtained through this service is provided by Industry Fund Financial Planning and not Prime Super. We have negotiated this service as a benefit for members to use should they choose and do not receive any payment or commission of any kind from Industry Fund Financial Planning.
Even though we think the rates we’ve negotiated are great, we understand that you might want to see another financial planner. However if you do choose to use another financial planner you will not be able to charge the cost of the advice (even if it relates to super) to your Prime Super member account.
There are three ways to them:
Before you meet your planner - Think about what where you want to be in 5, 10, 20 and 30 years. Your goals will pay a big part in the financial planning process.
Your initial consultation – the first meeting is free of charge and there is no obligation to proceed further.
The quote – Usually at the end of your first meeting you and your adviser will be in a position to decide if there is value in proceeding to a Statement of Advice (Financial Plan). If this is the case you will receive a quote detailing what your financial plan will cost you. Industry Fund Financial Planning charge a fixed fee to prepare your plan – there are no commissions or other hidden costs.*
Your decision – Once you receive the quote it’s up to you to decide whether you want to move forward.
